Time for Kids Southport

Time for Kids – Out of School Hours Care Southport is a Gold Coast based, not-for-profit, community based vacation and after school hours care service for children in prep and primary school (years 1-7).  Experienced and friendly staff provide quality care in a safe and warm environment.

Out of school hours care and vacation care are provided for children whose parents work, study or need relief outside of school hours. Long day care for children aged 15 months to school age is also offered next door at our Southport-based early childhood centre.

Time for Kids has a bus service, which collects children from Southport Primary School, Musgrave Hill State School, Arundel State School, Labrador State School, Bellvue Park State School, Ashmore State School and Biggera Waters State School.  Pick-ups from other schools en route can be arranged.

About our program

Time for Kids has a child centred program which has been developed, based on individual child observations and feedback from children and parents.

During the school term, children are allotted homework time each afternoon and then participate in a range of fun activities in a setting designed for play. We encourage the children to choose where they play, allowing access to both indoor and outdoor areas and a range of activities.

Activities and experiences children may choose from include dramatic play, art and craft, cooking, indoor and outdoor games, reading books, watching movies, using computers, and socialising with their friends.

Vacation care also offers day excursions to enable the children to have outings with their friends and share new experiences. Excursions may include visits to indoor bowling centres, the cinema, Putt Putt, or other child entertainment and sporting venues.

Children are required to bring their own lunch and morning tea each day they attend vacation care. Afternoon tea is provided.

Hours of care

Time for Kids provides after school hours care Monday to Friday during the school term and vacation care Monday to Friday during holiday periods and pupil free days.  Afternoon teas are provided.

• After school hours care: 3pm – 6:30pm
• Vacation care: 7.30am – 6:30pm

How to book

Bookings can be made by phoning the Time for Kids office week days between 9.00am and 4.00pm. Bookings must be made in advance, and require completed application forms and a deposit. Different booking deadlines apply for each holiday period.

Quality Care

Time for Kids is licensed by the Department of Communities.  The program and facilities are continually assessed and improved to ensure the quality of care offered is of the highest standard.  Child Care Benefit – a means based support payment to parents to assist with the cost of child care, is available for eligible families.
