Family Support Service Maryborough
Churches of Christ Care Family Support Service Maryborough is a not-for-profit, community based parent support and education service. It is funded by the State Department of Communities and is available to parents with children from 0-15 years of age, who are experiencing parenting issues or whose children may be classified ‘at risk’. The Family Support Service assists parents to develop effective parenting skills to create positive and rewarding family relationships.
The Family Support Service operates as part of the Family Care Services in Maryborough, and is co-located with our Maryborough-based family day care and In-Home Child Care Wide Bay.
Resources available
Churches of Christ Care’s Maryborough Family Support Service provides practical support, information and education to parents wishing to develop and enhance a broad range of parenting skills. For example: issues relating to day to day parenting, behaviour management, communication and time management, establishing routines, nutrition and hygiene, and budgeting.
Services available to parents are:
- home visits or appointment at the Family Support Service
- phone or email contact
- resources such as videos, books and information sheets
- parent discussion group
- playgroup
- referral to other services.
Qualified staff
The Maryborough family support team holds relevant qualifications, and has experience working in children’s services or related fields.
To access Churches of Christ Care’s Maryborough Family Support Service at least one child in the family needs to be eligible to use an approved child care service. However, the child does not need to be actually using child care. Access to the family support officer is free-of-charge.
