Services join forces to celebrate Children’s Week

Churches of Christ Care early childhood services are coming together at Queens Park on Thursday 27 October to celebrate Children’s Week.

With activities geared to engage young minds, Family Day Care Maryborough, In Home Child Care Wide Bay and Maryborough Family Support Service will have a display showcasing the services each provides to the community.

Nancy Hammond, Maryborough Family Day Care Coordinator, said Children’s Week is a great opportunity to share with families and the community the services Churches of Christ Care Early Childhood Services provides in Maryborough.

“While our display will feature what we do, people will also be able to get a better idea of the different ways children of different ages learn and the value of play-based learning programs,” Ms Hammond said.

“At the event, organised by Family Connect, we will be running a music session for children and having a moon sand session, which is a really awesome sensory activity where children experience different textures.

“We will also have a baby corner so there is something for the younger children.”

Ms Hammond said Children’s Week is about taking the activities and services out to the community.

“It is also a good chance for mums and dads, and other interested people to see firsthand what the children are learning,” she said.

Churches of Christ Care operates a range of child care services in Maryborough – Family Day Care – a home-based child care service, In Home Child Care – community-based service providing care to families whose needs are not mainstream and Family Support Service that provides support, information and education to parents who want to develop their parenting skills.

Children’s Week celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood. It is also a time for children to demonstrate their talents, skills and abilities.
